The ASG Steyr AUG A3 XS Commando is a compact bullpup AEG that combines a short 651 mm overall length with a barrel length comparable to a conventional carbine. By positioning the magazine and gearbox behind the trigger, the bullpup layout allows a relatively long barrel to fit inside a considerably shorter platform. This makes the AUG A3 XS Commando particularly practical for CQB while retaining the versatility needed for more open playing fields.
The AUG platform uses its distinctive trigger-controlled fire selector. A partial trigger pull fires in semi-automatic mode, while pulling the trigger fully engages automatic fire. This allows the player to change the type of fire directly through the trigger without operating a separate selector during use.
The upper receiver and rail assembly are made from metal, while the lower body uses durable polymer in keeping with the construction of the original platform. Its bullpup configuration provides a balanced layout and works naturally for both right- and left-handed users. Official Steyr licensing adds authentic Steyr logos and markings to the receiver.
There is plenty of mounting space for accessories. The AEG features seven rails in total, five of which are removable, allowing unnecessary sections to be taken off when they are not required. The long, low-profile top rail provides ample room for a red dot or optic, while the front mounting points can accommodate accessories such as a foregrip or weapon light.
An adjustable full-metal vertical grip is included together with metal front and rear sights. The AEG also features a QD sling attachment point and a redesigned charging handle based on the original firearm. Removing the metal flash hider exposes a 14 mm CCW thread for compatible muzzle accessories.
Internally, the AUG A3 XS Commando uses a Version 3 gearbox with 7 mm bearings, quality gears and a reinforced internal configuration. Its quick-change spring system makes adjusting muzzle velocity for different playing environments considerably easier than with a conventional gearbox. According to the manufacturer, different springs can provide an approximate velocity range of 90–140 m/s. The standard specified muzzle velocity is approximately 123 m/s.
The ASG Steyr AUG A3 XS Commando comes with a 300-round hi-cap magazine. Battery and charger are not included and must be purchased separately.
