Remington 4.5 mm felt cleaning pellets provide a simple way to keep the barrel of an air rifle or air pistol clean. Made from dense felt, each cleaning pellet is pushed through the bore by firing it, making routine barrel maintenance possible without a cleaning rod or extensive disassembly.
As the felt pellet travels through the barrel, it compresses against the rifling and collects dust, excess oil and lead residue left behind by shooting. Regular barrel cleaning helps prevent fouling from accumulating and supports consistent accuracy over time.
The shoot-through cleaning method also reduces the need to insert a cleaning rod through the barrel. This can help minimise the risk of accidental damage to the rifling or barrel crown during routine maintenance.
These felt pellets are not recommended for use through multi-shot magazines. They should instead be loaded directly into the barrel or loading port where the design of the airgun allows it. They are also not recommended for airguns fitted with a non-removable silencer.
When cleaning a spring-piston air rifle, it is recommended to load a standard lead pellet behind the felt pellet.
