The AEA Sonic Sniper is a high-power bullpup PCP air rifle designed with long-range precision, slug shooting and high muzzle energy in mind. The Sniper version is capable of producing up to 200 joules of muzzle energy, while its long 32-inch barrel makes efficient use of the rifle's substantial air capacity.
One of the defining features of the Sonic Sniper is its exceptionally high maximum fill pressure of 480 bar / 7000 psi. Combined with a 625 cc air reservoir, this gives the rifle a substantial supply of compressed air for high-output shooting and a strong shot count per fill. For longer shooting sessions, the rifle can also be tethered to a 300 bar external air bottle.
An adjustable regulator with a range of 100–250 bar allows the shooter to tune the rifle according to the chosen projectile and desired performance. The regulator works together with a large 100 cc plenum to provide a controlled supply of air for each shot, helping maintain consistent performance.
The Sonic Sniper is particularly well suited to slugs and high projectile velocities. According to the manufacturer's specifications, a .30 calibre configuration can reach velocities of up to approximately 426 m/s / 1400 fps with a 50 grain slug when appropriately tuned.
The high-pressure system also provides useful efficiency. Shot count varies according to calibre, regulator settings and ammunition, but the large air capacity allows extended shooting between fills. In .25 / 6.35 mm calibre, the manufacturer states a maximum of approximately 90 shots per fill.
Despite its 32-inch barrel, the bullpup configuration keeps the overall length to approximately 1006 mm. This provides the benefits of a long barrel without making the rifle unnecessarily long. An adjustable stock and rubberised grip help the shooter establish a stable and comfortable shooting position.
A Weaver/Picatinny rail provides a straightforward mounting point for a scope or other compatible optic. Filling is handled through a Foster quick-disconnect fitting for convenient connection to suitable high-pressure filling equipment.
