Q: What is a Hop-Up?
A: Hop-up is a mechanism that gives the BB a back spin. With this back spin the BB will start to fly and glide further and also more directly. Most of the airsoft guns out there have adjustable hop-up which allows the user to use different weight of BB. This allows the user to adjust the trajectory of the BB to their own preferences as well regardless the weight or brand of the BB.

Q: What is Blow Back?
A: Some of the gas and electric operated guns are equipped with Blow Back function. This means that the slide or bolt or lock of the gun moves as the gun is being shot with, just like in the real guns as well. This also gives in gas guns a faint feel of recoil.

Q: What kind of BB’s should I use?
A: All the guns meant for Airsoft use that we sell use either plastic or BIO BB’s. The weight of the BB varies between 0.12g - 0.43g. Recommended BB weight varies depending on the power and wanted range. The following chart has the approximate values:

<0,5J = 0,12g

0,5-1J = 0,20g

1-1,5J = 0,25g

1,5-2J = 0,28-0,35g

2,0-2,5J = 0,35-0,40g

Q: How long does it take to Bio BB to decompose?
A: All bio BB’s start their decomposing when they get enough UV-light and moisture. What affects the decomposing process speed is the temperature. In Finland this means that the decomposing process takes roughly 1-2 years depending on the brand of the BB. The container where the bio BBs come in should always kept closed, dry and out of UV light to keep the BBs in good condition.

Q: Can I use the cheap market brand BBs?
A: Using the cheap BBs is the most common way to either get trouble with your gun or in worst case break it. You can easily see if the BB is faulty or poor in quality in the seams that the BB has. If there is clearly visible seams and usually accompanied by a bright color, you should avoid using these. Also do not use already shot BB’s. We recommend using only the known good brands such as Diablo, G&G and Marui BBs.

Q: How far will the guns shoot?
A: The sping action guns reach is roughly 20 to 50 meters. Stock power AEG (1J) the reach is about 30 to 50 meters. Spring action sniper rifles the range is about 40 to 70 meters. While the gas powered pistols have the same velocities as the rifles, their range is much weaker than the rifles due the shorter barrel length.

Q: Do the airsoft guns work on winter?
A: Green gas (propane) operated guns do not work at all when the temperature is below +5 Celcius. Other types of guns you can operate during the winter time but do take into consideration that there are parts that are made out of plastic and hence does not co-operate good with freezing weather. The freezing weather will also take its toll on rubber parts such as O-rings and hop-up. Also batteries tend to last much less in the cold weather. Co2 operated work on the cold.

Q: Is there any warranty on the products?
A: All the products have 6 month product and material defect warranty. This means faults that have been already on the product during the sales which have to be informed in the 6 months of the purchase date. Damages that are from wear and tear are not included to this warranty.

Q: Do you buy and sell used guns & equipment?
A: Unfortunately we do not buy or sell used guns or swap them into new products.

Magazines

Q: Can I mix the magazine between brands and manufacturers?

A: Almost every AEG out there has a Marui-standard magazines, which means you can use them in various guns. In gas and spring guns the magazines are usually meant to be used in their own brand so there may be bit variations between the manufacturers and hence not properly working with each other. There are exceptions how ever.

Q: What is a hi-cap magazine?
A: Hicap (High Capasity) has much higher capacity than regular magazine. The idea behind the magazine is that there is a reservoir where the BBs are poured in and usually on the bottom of the magazine there is a wheel or roll where you can feed the BBs. You need to pre-roll/cock the magazine in order it to feed properly. NOTE! Do not put BBs wrong way in. Use only the reservoir and not feed them one by one where they are supposed to come out.

Q: What is mid cap magazine?
A: Midcap magazines (Middle Capasity) work like regular magazines but they have much higher capacity build into them. Usually the capacity is between 100 to 150 BB.

Q: What is regular magazine?
A: Regular magazine (Regular Capasity) is the most basic magazine with capacity of 20-50. Hence the magazine is also the most reliable.

Q: What is realcap?
A: Realcap (Real Capasity) magazines work just like the real gun magazines, usually with 10-30 capacity.

Q: What is a drum or box magazine?
A: Super hi-capacity magazine which usually takes from 500 to 5000 BBs. The BB feed is automatic or semi-automatic with help of electric motors and batteries.

Gun Maintenance

Q: How can I maintain my gun?
A: First and foremost it is good thing to clean up your gun and leave it to dry out after each game. Clean inner barrel, empty your magazines from BBs, charge your batteries and lube up your gas guns and their magazines. CO2 magazines should be stored with out CO2 capsules but regular gas magazines should contain some gas. Gas that Proairsoft sells contains always little bit of silicone oil.

Q: What kind of lubricant should I use for my guns?
A: When cleaning your guns, you should only use silicone oil (cleaning barrel and lubricating seals). Using real gun oil, solvent or CRC lubricants can damage the rubber and plastic parts of your gun. Plastic parts can be cleaned with moist wipes or paper towels. For bigger stains you may use dishwashing diluted dishwasher fluid. NOTE! Do not submerge your gun into water and make sure your gun is clean and dry after each clean up.

Batteries and Charging

Q: What is the difference between NiMh and LiPo batteries?
A: There are mainly two choices for batteries when it comes to Airsoft-guns currently, NiMh and LiPo. NiMh is the basic long lasting battery and you can get the in various sizes: mini, large, AK-type (stick), micro and Crane-type. LiPo is the next generation battery which is more powerful but bit more sensitive for abuse. LiPo batteries are much smaller in size so the fit much easier into those guns that usually have hard time getting the battery in. Power wise NiMh batteries are sufficient for airsoft use but you can also move into LiPo when you know what kinda power output you need. 7.4V LiPo battery is usually equivalent to 9.6 NiMh battery. Also be sure you charge your LiPo batteries with a charger that is meant for charging Lipo batteries. For beginners we recommend NiMh batteries.

Q: How many shots you can get with fully charged battery?
A: With a stock power (1J / 100m/s with 0,2g) AEG usually one mAH = one shot. For example with a 1400mAh battery you can shoot roughly 1400 shots. How ever outside temperature, the condition of the battery and your gun may affect to this.

Q: How long should I charge my batteries?
A: With a stock charger, the one that usually comes with your first gun, you can calculate the time easily. NOTE! The chargers that usually come with the more affordable guns are not automatic! If the capacity of the battery is 1400mAh and the charging current of the charger is for example 300 mA, how long does it take? You divide the 1400 with that 300, which gives you 4.6 hrs. You can check the output current from your charger. Usually it is between 200-300, but in some it may also be 500 mA.

Even though you would use automatic charger, you should not leave your batteries unsupervised. Good sign of the battery being full is that it will start to emit heat. If the battery is clearly warm when you pick it up, it is charged. With automatic charger you do not need to worry about over charging because the charger will automatically cut off the power when the battery is full.

Q: Do you need to discharge your batteries?
A: There is no need to discharge your batteries because there is no memory-phenomenom at modern batteries.

Q: Do you need to charge your battery when it’s not been used?
A: Batteries should be charged to full every 3 to 5 months to make sure they won’t discharge too much and get damaged.

Problem Situations

Q: Range of my gun is poor, what should I do?
A: First clean up your barrel and make sure you have the hop-up adjusted and you got the proper weight of BBs. If there is not enough hop-up the BBs will fall roughly 10 to 20 meters away. When the hop-up is adjusted correctly the BB will instantly start to fly and glide which you will see as a longer range. The guns that have a solid hop-up (for example spring action pistols) you must have the correct weight of BB.

Q: My AEG stopped shooting all of a sudden, what should I do, where is the problem?
A: First check the battery status that it is charged. If the battery is charged and gun won’t even budge even with another battery check the battery connector and the fuse located next to it. If the fuse is broken (the metal string in the tube is cut from the middle) change the fuse.

Q: My AEG does shoot but the BBs won’t come out, what should I do and where is the problem?
Vastaus: Firstly, gently tap your magazine from the bottom. Make sure that your magazine is actually feeding the BBs. You can verify by turning the gun upside down and shoot. If the BBs come out, then the problem lays in your magazine. If the magazine is hi-cap type make sure you have pre-cocked the magazine enough. This takes at least 10 to 20 seconds to check. If neither of these help, make sure the barrel is not clogged by using cleaner supplied with your gun. Also make sure that you don’t have faulty or poor quality BBs in your magazines.

Q: My gas gun stopped shooting all of the sudden, what should I do, where is the problem?
Vastaus: Make sure there is enough gas in the magazine. Also take into consideration the weather around you. The gas guns won’t work at very cold climate (under +5 celcius). Also if you shoot a lot during a short duration of time, the magazine will get cooler so much that the gas won’t have enough heat to expand when coming out of the magazine and hence the gun won’t work properly. If this is the case, wait until the magazine is warm again for your next try.

Q: My gas gun is not working properly?
A: Make sure the gas what you are using is powerful enough. The guns which have metal slide/bolt require powerful gas that the gun would work properly. Make sure the temperature is sufficient also.

Q: My gas gun shoots but BBs are not coming out?
A: Make sure there is nothing clogging the magazine (trash, poor quality BB, etc) and make sure the barrel is not clogged either.

Q: My spring action gun shoots but BBs are not coming out?
Vastaus: Make sure the barrel is not clogged. Tap your magazine gently from the side and bottom.

Q: There is a weird sound coming from my gun, what should I do, where is the problem?
A: Stop instantly using your gun and contact the shop where it has been bought from.

Q: Can I disassemble the gun myself or tune it?
A: The factory defect guarantee (6 months) does not apply anymore if the customer disassembles the gun by theirselves. Field stripping with out any tools, hop-up adjustments and removing the slide for example cleaning purposes is allowed. You should also consult professionals first when you are about to take down or tune your airsoft guns.
